The Provocative Challenge of Our Time
The way of the Destined Being
Martin Buber, philosopher wrote about the “I in Thou” way of being in the world. To orient oneself in the way of 3rd person, rather than 1st. To be of the world, but not caught up in ego, instead eco. That to be that which is our nature, kindness, tenderness, generosity, and love, we transcend our relationship with ourselves to be dormant; essential, authentic, aligned with that which we sense the world is in need of us; where we belong.
Today the crisis of our time is that we are at a shortage of useful human beings on this planet. We need to turn out more high quality human beings that are positioned to contribute in the spirit Buber is talking about. To change the course of our future, we must turn toward the properties within us, and increase our levels of awareness of them. A new creativity is rising all around us and within us. We sense something is wanting to emerge out of what’s dying, but can’t quite distinguish it yet, rising from the rubble.
Despite this rising we are becoming more machine-like with technology replacing our brains. As automation and technology prevail, human creativity becomes more and more needed to distinguish a person from another. With outsourcing on the rise in the interconnected world, we must consider a new path to create change in the world and enjoy the rewards, internally and externally. To reach the fullness of our potential, we must turn toward our intrinsic desires and personal gifts to organize our life.
The path to total well-being individually and collectively is significance and meaning. What one loves is what they are gifted at. What they love creating is their DNA talking to them. As they move toward from this as a source of learning and development, a new creativity is born, the future beholds a higher possibility for the individual who comes home to his true work, essential self, and destined being. What stands in need of him is born.
To provoke his gifts, instead of listening from the past, learning from experience, the creator lives forward into the mystery of the future, convicted with all he is into that which he loves. Everything the future needs is given to him, if he can open his mind, heart and hand without expectations, without stories, without judgment. The source from which his actions and attention shifts within the interior condition of him. A new trust is born to initiate action from an emerging future possibility and listen it’s way toward happening. As his future presences itself through the now, he is available to let it be lived through him. Like a hollow flute, he let’s the air move in. He is available to what’s here. But if the flute were full of beans, accumulation–answers, fears, and cynicism, no air would be let come. He must learn to let go. To LET life be that which it is and embrace what the universe has inserted.
Current reality is not an enemy rather, a place of radical acceptance and recognition. A peaceful stranger saying its OK to trust this. As the creator moves toward this emerging quality of bigger business that he must do in the world, the path is laid down before him as he continues walking on it forward. He must let go everything he knows, see his own seeing, sense what is going on from what’s there, and follow the temptations of his epiphanies which guide him. He is reborn into the new. Whatever is on the way out is on it’s way, and whatever is on the way in is distinguishing itself into realization. He must step aside. Let it. For he is part of an entire system from which his work is informed.
He must observe, stop, retreat, reflect, letting go and catching what’s coming all at once, and then act in an instant and learn. Slow is his new fast. To do this, something in him must die, in order for him to crossover the threshold from his old self to new self. He is fearful, but not at issue with it, he holds a defended heart, but follows what matters to him anyway. His memory is full of mental construction and fact-making, but he’s open, curious, and full of wonder, instead of editing what’s here and chopping it up into false interpretations and stories.
His inner instruments are attuned to his true intentions, which are placed at the center of his awareness. His attention is informed by what he loves and seeks to create with it. His attention wide open to what’s here, because he knows the future is not fixed. His attention is not born of fear, yet he knows fear is a source of self-respect and danger management. This way, he can touch fear, but turn toward bigger business to attend to instead.
He turns to his undeniable nature. He understands that no matter where he is put, this nature can rise out of it. Current conditions do not edge his nature out. He is friends with himself. What he likes, he likes. What he doesn’t, he doesn’t like. At times, he behaves like a buffoon, other times he’s a prince, but none of these moments morph into permanent concepts he holds of himself. He forgives what he is to be his nature. He sees the universe’s impermanence. Instead of forming ideals out of what parts of him he doesn’t like, he is true to himself for truth’s sake. He is real, not a false face of impression. No quirk of his is needing him to shift it, unless it directly lies in the way of the path toward what he loves to create. Otherwise he holds a relaxed attentiveness as his posture toward to life.
Instead of having all the answers, he has all the questions. He is eco-minded, not ego-minded. He sees himself as part of the existing whole with interdependence, instead of self-assertion and competitiveness to get one up to overturn his shame. It is left alone. His creations have become his business, not his self-afflictions. He outgrows his afflictions by creating anyway despite them.
He is present. He is touched by what is around him. His interior condition shifts. He feels the good within him that the world needs most. He acts with creative freedom, giving all he’s been given to his cause. He surrenders, not with will, but willingness, holding himself in a space of not knowing at all what to do–his blindspot, as we moves forward convicted by his true nature–his love to generate that which he holds as his deepest aspirations. Through this creative act, he returns to what he already knows, his inner wisdom.
He doesn’t decide what to do, for there are no decisions to make, he does that which he cannot NOT do. He must. He owes the world what he loves doing. It is the opportunity of him to harvest it. Here, in this place of involvement from what’s waiting to be born in him, he see’s the cracks opening now from the future possibilities which await him. He knows only to work from there, his inner knowing. This space is pregnant as something is aware of him which seeks itself to come into being through him. He moves with the tides of these forces which hold him up. This work is not to be done all himself.
He walks on the wings safely knowing that everything will be given to him if he just surrenders to his destiny, just working from what’s unfolding. He now knows what he’s in service to. His true work has come into the clear; his soul service. His energy is born out of what matters to him in combination with what makes a difference in the world. His life is suddenly infused with meaning, as all he sees and loves is that which he can affect. The footprint he’s going to leave on the world, taking his last breath has come into purpose. His ability to quiet his mind, and listen deeply to this spirit talking to him is a personal practice he must pay regular visits to again and again. He must come home over and over again and decode the future as it’s emerging. Not by controlling, not by predicting, everything here is impermanent, always in flux. He “check’s in”.
He has come to a place in his life to be available to what’s here. Unforeseen forces come to his aid when his stance is this way. He trusts this place to be always the source from which he enters. Attending this way, everything can emerge the way it needs to. It is a flow he taps into, a holding space of potential where his destined being comes alive.
