You want lubrication.
I say “No”
You say “Yes.”
We’re at odds.
Let’s drop authorities and rebels
And meet where no words are suppressed.
You are emotional pain, and I am the creator.
We dance in timelessness. Yet, in your time, I don’t exist.
You still swim in yellow soda pop beneath, while I listen to pure green fields in blue sky time.
Stay over there, and I’ll stay over here where the world needs me most.
Keep reminding me just how little I am, and how alike we all are.
I hold you inside me like a solar flare,
But you seek to resolve against me despite our distancing.
You seek immediate gratifications and sudden pleasures,
While I seek to create my deepest longings.
The common good doesn’t matter to you; only feeling better now is your king.
You bypass, outsmart, negotiate, coax, and hide out like a cunning fox,
While I connect with voices from myself ahead of me.
You thaw at the feet of something bigger I have to do.
You’ll just have to control yourself, while I’m busy in major things.
And I’ll wait and let you die down until your inner fire burns to soft embers.
I’m not your funnel to pour out on others hearts, so stay put.
I’ll turn toward you to give myself alternative energy from a another place.
You’ll be my teacher whether you like it or not.
My only defense against you is to not have one.
We’re old friends for the life of a knot untying itself with each breath.
When I write you down, you become love waiting to happen,
And when I push you down, you stay longer than normal.
Yet, I create with you, and in spite of you.
You know there isn’t room for you in my aspirations.
So I’ll make space for you to thaw while you visit me.
Make a note, and don’t forget you’re temporary.
I’m going to be love now until long after you’re gone.
