For your business to grow, you will need a great team behind you. You won’t be doing all of the work yourself, and your business will need some skills that you don’t possess.

• How can you manage your team, ensuring that your tasks are completed effectively and efficiently? This is done through management. Management is getting right things done right. Thus, a crucial part of your business is “hiring skills.”

• A powerful tool to do this to describe the role description of your team members who will be caring for activities and responsibilities in your business.  Begin by taking inventory of those aspects of your job that you don’t enjoy doing. Next, think about your company goals for the next 90 days, 180 days, etc. If these tasks were done to your liking, this is what your team members would achieve.

• Plan the performance objectives of each task. You need to be looking for smart, specific, measurable, action oriented, results based, and time bound performance objectives. Look at your goals and activities that you want accomplished and think about the outcome as well. These are things that will lighten your work load with an expected end result. You will end up with three to five objectives that specify what will be needed for this person to carry out their responsibilities to your liking.  In the end, you will be a gifted boss with an amazing team.

What traits are common in all high performers? This is crucial when you put a team in place. How can you determine when you have the top of the labor pool on your team?

• Five traits that you should focus on in your hiring process:

1. High work ethics
2. Team Leadership
3. Past Performance
4. Adaptability
5. Focus Under Pressure

• Work Ethic – High Initiative. You will get average performance with both a lot of talent and no initiative and a lot of initiative and no talent. When building your team, you need a person with a lot of talent plus initiative. Looking at their past performance and accomplishments, along with their expectations and whether they exceeded them, will give you an idea of their performance qualities.

• Team Leadership. To be able to persuade and motivate others stands out in high performers. You need to see consistency in their conflict resolutions skills. Can they motivate others to follow? How do they contribute to the overall team? How do they interact in a group setting? Adaptability is important; they need to be able to think on their feet and adapt to new situations. Provide them with problems they may face on the job, and see if they can handle these problems.  Finally, can they focus under pressure?

When you go into your day you have a set of expections. The universe usually gives you the unexpected.  Learn to redirect the unexpected to your advantage.

• Ask yourself these five questions.
  

1. What was I expecting?
2. What actually happened?
3. How did it come to pass?
4. Whats my intention?
5. What do I want to start, stop and continue?
   

• Turn these questions into a system to operate from in the future. This could be a system you can learn from again and again.
  

• If a situation doesn’t go your way, investigate. Ask yourself those five questions to redirect it to your advantage.  That is the REDIRECTION PIVOT.  Think of it as a u-turn to galvanize and systemise the situation.
  

Those who are successful are both master and commander. What do I mean? To be master and commander is to bring an outcome into being when something really matters to you.

• You focus your attention in the areas of your business, and life, which are important to you.  With this focus and attention, you are able to implement checks and balances that bring about your desired results.

• However, the combination of both perspective and control must be in place to be successful. One without the other brings about distraction, procrastination, and loss of quality. Without control, you get lost in the details and become preoccupied with doubt and helplessness. With a high level of perspective and a low level of control, you quickly become a procrastinator. With a low level of perspective, you get caught up in all the planning but lose productivity. Those who are high on control, and lack perspective, control what’s on their plate but rarely go anywhere.

• Operating “in the moment” frees you to focus and hone in on the essentials of your business. By connecting control with perspective, you enter into a moment of awareness. Then, with a system in place, you achieve the outcomes that you had envisioned for your business. You are master and commander of your affairs and are on the road to success.

We all possess something that we are genius at.  What are your greatest strengths?  What is your passion?  It is critical to your business to hone in on your individual skills that make your business stand out.

• Examine your passions.  What are three areas of expertise, in your business, that you enjoy and that you excel at doing?  If you placed your primary focus on these three skills, imagine your earning power.  Envision your satisfied customers and the referral business that you would enjoy.

• Do you have a dynamic urge?  How much do you care about showcasing these skills?  It must matter to you that you leave an imprint in the minds of your customers.  Everyone has “best in the world” skills.  Your clients do not want anything less than the “best in the world.”  You need to find these skills and focus your attention on them.  This is what we call the matter factor or dynamic urge.

• Is this skill an economic denominator in your business?  Is this something that dominates all your other activities?  If you have a passion for it, a dynamic urge, care about the outcome, and have mastered this skill (with over 10,000 hours or ten years’ experience), you may be able to transform your industry.  At the very least, you will be energized in the outcome and the impact it has on your business..

Rather than repelling or eliminating the unwanted circumstances in life, your coach repositions you toward a generative orientation, one that highly involves all you are. Today, you have to plan at a much faster speed of change. Along with setting intentions, your best decisions often come out of setting your best attention on what you’re doing.
